Reece McLaren Reveals he Suffered Health Scare Ahead of his Return at One 158

The last year hasn’t been easy for Reece McLaren, as some of his biggest challenges took place outside the cage. At One on TNT 3 last April, McLaren (14-8, 7-5 One) was outpointed by Yuya Wakamatsu, ending a two-bout winning streak. After that fight, the Australian flyweight had to deal with a case of COVID-19 and related complications. In what he referred to as a “health scare” in a recent interview with Sherdog, McLaren revealed that his kidneys were on the brink of failure and had to stay away from competition for a while. Still, “Lightning” has been cleared to compete again and he is now scheduled to face Wei Xie at the upcoming One 158.
