Darko Stosic Aims to Secure Another Shot at the KSW Heavyweight Title

Darko Stosic is sure he will realize his dream of becoming KSW champion one day.

While he failed in his first attempt to dethrone Philip De Fries at KSW 67 in February 2022, Ultimate Fighting Championship alum Stosic (17-6, 4-1 KSW) believes it is just a matter of time before he’ll fight for the divisional title again. To execute his plan, Stosic needs to get past Stefan Vojcak at KSW 84 on July 15. He’ll also pay attention to the card’s headliner, where De Fries will put the heavyweight title on the line against Professional Fighters League alum Szymon Bajor. While talking with Sherdog, Stosic mentioned his experience and skills would lead him to victory as Vojcak didn’t spend as much time in the cage as the Serbian. The MMA Red Star representative also explained that he moved up to the heavyweight division from light heavyweight as he feels more comfortable at his current weight, planning to stay in the 265-pound division for now. As a 205-pounder, Stosic faced current UFC divisional kingpin Jamahal Hill, whom Stosic didn’t expect to become champion one day.

“If [De Fries] wins that fight, and I think he will ‘cause I think nobody can beat him in KSW. He's very good, and I'm looking for that title shot and opportunity to fight him. Now I'm heavier than the last time I fought him, and, of course, I think I'm much better. If I win and he wins, I expect to fight with him one more time for the title.”
