Franklin Opens Up About Silva Loss; Kerr Talks IFL
Thursday's "Beatdown" is packed with insight, hilarity ... and guests! Joining host TJ De Santis and Sherdog.com editor Josh Gross are former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin (Pictures) and UFC and PRIDE veteran "The Smashing Machine" Mark Kerr (Pictures).
Thanks to the knees of Anderson Silva, Franklin suffered just his second loss in 23 fights. In the three weeks since losing the title, "Ace" opted against speaking with the media. Finally on Wednesday Rich addressed his performance against Silva, what led to his defeat in the Octagon, the subsequent injuries and rehabilitation, and his still-bright future.
Earlier this year Kerr intended to make his much anticipated return to the ring. However, a late hand injury forced Kerr out of the fight against Wes Sims (Pictures). Tonight in Portland, Ore., Kerr fights for the first time since 2004 when he faces The Ultimate Fighter 2 heavyweight contestant Mike Whitehead (Pictures). Kerr joins TJ and Josh to discuss his pending fight, as well as how his body has handled the rigors of training.
TJ and Josh respond to listener's e-mail including a discussion on the steroid problem in mixed martial arts break down the International Fight League semifinals, and preview Sunday's stacked PRIDE Bushido card, which features the culmination of the welterweight tournament and a lightweight title fight between champion Takanori Gomi (Pictures) and Marcus Aurelio.
