FFC 22 Athens press release: Three more great fights coming up at FFC in Athens!

(PRESS RELEASE) – FFC is about to kick off its new season with an event in Greece in less than a month. This Croatian fighting sports organization will hold its 22nd spectacle February 19 in Athens and some of the biggest names on the fight card have already been revealed last week.

As previously announced, kickboxing superstar Robin van Roosmalen will make his MMA v debut at FFC 22, while the kickboxing part of the event will be headlined by Pavel Zhuralev and Brian Douwes who are to fight for the light heavyweight title. Slovenia’ Samo Petje will also defend his light division belt but this time against best Greek kickboxer Meletis Kakoubavas. However, this is not all and fight card features some more very interesting bouts.

Stošić vs. Zahariev

In the MMA co-main event, Serbian heavyweight Darko Stosic will stand against the best Bulgaria’s heavyweight Emil Zahariev. Stošić signed a new FFC contract this year and Zahariev should be his last obstacle on the way to the title fight with Dion Staring. He is doing more than great in the FFC so far. Three dominant victories improved his professional score (7-1). In his last match he outclassed Ivan Vitasovic from Pula, Croatia, via stoppage in the first round.

On the other hand, Zahariev is a seasoned professional with 22 wins and only six defeats in his professional career. He is well known to the regional audience since he defeated Aleksandar Radosavljevic at WFC in Slovenia. In his last match he fought in the famous INOKI Bom-ba-ye ring and in April last year he was defeated by Chris Barnette via stoppage in the second round. Both fighters definitely have a tough match ahead of them and it is hard to say who will be the one to get closer to the FFC title shot.

Plazibat and Čikotić facing difficult tasks

Kickboxing part of the event will feature two excellent Croatian fighters coming from kickboxing club Ameno – Antonio Plazibat and Tomislav Čikotić. Both Plazibat and Čikotić climbed to the top via FFC Futures tournaments in 2014 and in 2015 they seized well their opportunity in the ‘real’ FFC ring as well. They will try to another win in Athens. FFC Futures light heavyweight champ Antonio Plazibat is to fight King of Kings (KOK) champ Sergei Masloboev from Lithuania. This is will be his toughest opponent so far in the FFC ring. On the other hand, Čikotić’s opponent will be Marius Munteanu from Romania.

Adamović vs. Marku

As already announced, one of the best young Serbian fighters Marko Adamović is to stand in the opposite corner from Albania's Florian Marku. Adamović also left his mark at FFC Futures and in 2015 he became top figter ready to defeat even the toughest opponents. Florian Marku is definitely an excellent fighter and young Serb from Novi Sad is definitely facing a big and diffcult test.
