Donald Cerrone is right back among the top contenders in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s lightweight division.

“Cowboy” scored arguably his best 155-pound win since 2015, as he outdueled Al Iaquinta over five rounds in the UFC Ottawa headliner on Saturday night. Not only is Cerrone 3-0 since becoming a father, but he clearly bested an opponent who recently schooled Kevin Lee and went five full rounds with reigning champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Whether it’s another contender fight — or cough, cough, Conor McGregor — Cerrone is sure to be in line for another high-profile booking next time out.

20: Career knockdowns for Cerrone. “Cowboy” floored Iaquinta twice in their bout to pass Anderson Silva and Jeremy Stephens for the most in promotion history.

23: Career victories for Cerrone, tops in UFC history. The Edgewood, New Mexico, resident continues to distance himself from Michael Bisping, Georges St. Pierre and Demian Maia, who are all tied for second with 20 victories apiece.

138: Significant strikes landed by Cerrone, a career-best among 41 UFC and WEC bouts tracked by UFCStats.com. His previous best of 96 came in a loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 141 in December 2011. Iaquinta, meanwhile, landed 90 significant strikes.

87: Significant head strikes for Cerrone. By comparison, Iaquinta landed 49.

34: Significant leg strikes for Cerrone. Iaquinta connected with 18.

0: Takedowns landed in five attempts for Iaquinta. Cerrone entered the bout with a 72 percent takedown defense rate.

4: Takedowns landed in nine attempts for Derek Brunson in a unanimous decision triumph over Elias Theodorou in the co-main event. That ties him for the most takedowns landed in any Theodorou opponent during his UFC tenure. Brunson also passed guard five times in the bout.

8: Consecutive fights in which Theodorou has gone the distance. After losing to Brunson, “The Spartan” is 5-3 in those bouts.

134: Significant strikes landed by Shane Burgos in a split-decision triumph against Cub Swanson. By comparison, Swanson landed 129. Burgos outlanded his opponent 41 to 37 in round one and 48 to 43 in round two, while Swanson held a 49 to 45 edge in round three. Both fighters landed 50 percent of their significant strikes.

82: Significant head strikes for Burgos. Swanson, meanwhile, landed 66.

49: Significant leg strikes landed by Swanson. Burgos landed 34.

5: Takedowns landed in 11 attempts for Merab Dvalishvili in a three-round verdict over Brad Katona at bantamweight. Dvalishvili landed at least one takedown in every frame.

27: Career takedowns landed by Dvalishvili in four Octagon appearances, already the most of any UFC bantamweight in promotion history. Urijah Faber is second with 26.

215: Total strikes landed by Dvalishvili at UFC Ottawa. By comparison, Katona landed just 43. The significant strike totals were much closer, with Dvalishvili ahead by a 55-to-32 margin.

12: Career professional victories via knockout or technical knockout for Walt Harris. He has never won a fight by decision or submission, with his split verdict over Andrei Arlovski overturned to a no contest. “The Big Ticket” earned his fifth such UFC triumph with a 50-second stoppage of Sergey Spivak on Saturday.

23: Combined significant strikes landed by Marc-Andre Barriault in rounds one and three in a unanimous decision loss to Andrew Sanchez. Those were the two frames in which Sanchez was able to land takedowns in the middleweight bout.

46: Significant strikes landed by Barriault in round two, when he was able to keep the fight upright for the duration of the period.

31: Significant leg strikes landed by Nordine Taleb in a decision triumph over short-notice foe Kyle Prepolec at welterweight. By comparison, Prepolec landed just three significant strikes to the legs. Overall, Taleb held a 90-to-52 edge in significant strikes landed.

75: Significant strikes landed by Matt Sayles en route to a third-round submission of Kyle Nelson at featherweight. Sayles landed 75 of 147 attempts, a 51 percent clip. Nelson, meanwhile, landed 26 of 93 significant strikes — a 27 percent clip.

40: Significant strikes disadvantage Arjan Singh Bhullar had in his unanimous decision victory over Juan Adams. That is the largest deficit in the history of the heavyweight division for a fighter who emerged with a decision triumph.
