Junior dos Santos called his own shot and delivered, knocking out Frank Mir at 3:04 of the second round in the UFC 146 main event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night. It was an evening of quick finishes all the way around, as none of the five featured heavyweight bouts went the distance. Overall, only three contests went the distance on the entire card.

2,485: Combined weight, in pounds, of Saturday’s main card participants, good for an average weight of 248.5 pounds. The heaviest of the heavyweights was Antonio Silva, who checked in at 264 pounds. The smallest: Dave Herman at 233.
58: Significant strikes landed by Junior dos Santos in his
second-round TKO victory over Frank Mir. While that was the highest
total of anyone on the UFC 146 main card, it was just the
fourth-best mark of the Brazilian’s UFC career. “Cigano” landed the
most significant strikes of his career against Roy Nelson at
UFC 117, with 130.
12: Number of seconds dos Santos has been on his back in nine UFC appearances. Each of Mir’s four takedown attempts against “Cigano” was unsuccessful.

6.81: Significant strikes landed per minute by Velasquez, tops all-time in the UFC. Despite his dominance of Silva, Velasquez’s rate actually dropped from 7.44 significant strikes landed per minute. The American Kickboxing Academy product landed 14 significant strikes -- and 51 total -- in dispatching “Bigfoot” in 3:36.
34: Total strikes by which Stipe Miocic outlanded Shane del Rosario during the second round of his TKO victory over the former Strikeforce talent. Del Rosario used a kick-laden attack to outstrike his opponent 30 to 21 in round one.
8: Knockouts among his last eight victories for Roy Nelson, who floored Dave Herman with a massive overhand right 51 seconds into their bout. Nelson’s streak dates back to 2007, when he stopped Bryan Vetell with strikes in the third round of an IFL matchup. The list of victims for “Big Country” during that time includes Brendan Schaub, Stefan Struve and Mirko Filipovic, among others. Four of Nelson’s five defeats during that time have gone the distance.
7: Total strikes landed by Johnson before he submitted to a Struve armbar at 1:05 of round one. The Californian landed a combined 43 total strikes in his previous two defeats to Shane del Rosario and Shawn Jordan. Both of those losses came by submission as well.
.931: Percentage of Struve’s professional fights that have ended in knockout, technical knockout or submission. That includes 22 of his 24 victories and all five of his defeats.
103: Total strikes landed by Darren Elkins in rounds two and three of his unanimous decision victory over “TUF 14” featherweight winner Diego Brandao. Elkins outlanded the Jackson’s MMA representative by 91 strikes during that span. In round one, Brandao held a 30-12 advantage in total strikes.
271: Total strikes by which Jason Miller has been outlanded in his three UFC appearances. C.B. Dollaway held a 99 to 29 striking advantage during his unanimous decision triumph over the “Bully Beatdown” host on Saturday night. Previously, Miller was badly outstruck by Michael Bisping at the “TUF 14” Finale (150 to 38) and by Georges St. Pierre at UFC 52 (117 to 28).
53: Total strikes by which Dollaway outlanded Jason Miller in the third round of their middleweight tussle. The Power MMA product outlanded “Mayhem” in each round and also took the Strikeforce veteran down four times over the course of the fight.
924: Days between Dan Hardy’s last Octagon victory -- a unanimous decision over Mike Swick -- and his UFC 146 knockout of Duane Ludwig. In between, “The Outlaw” dropped contests to Georges St. Pierre, Carlos Condit, Anthony Johnson and Chris Lytle.
