Greg Hardy (4-1) vs. Juan Adams (5-1)

ODDS: Adams (-115), Hardy (-105)

It remains unclear why the UFC continues to bother with Hardy. Yes, he has notoriety thanks to his days as a star NFL player, but those came to an end when he was basically deemed too domestically violent to be worth the trouble. He does not have much of a natural fanbase; nobody appears to want to watch him fight; and at the end of the day, he is just not particularly good as a fighter. Allen Crowder memorably exposed Hardy to the point that the former defensive end threw a fight-ending illegal knee out of frustration, and the UFC had to pick up Dmitry Smoliakov just to find someone that he could beat. However, the more people complain, the more the UFC digs in its heels, though at the very least, Hardy is not in a co-main event this time.

In the other corner, Adams is a legitimate prospect but still learning how to do more than rely on his physical advantages, as he might be the most massive heavyweight on the roster. Adams has been angling for a fight with Hardy for a while, and after losing an ugly decision to Arjan Singh Bhullar in May, the joke was that Adams helped his chances of getting the fight by making himself look more beatable. Naturally, that turned out to be true.

As long as Adams does not get overaggressive trying to prove a point, this is his fight to lose. He can throw more than one strike at a time and he can wrestle, and while his cardio is a significant issue, he should be able to tire out Hardy even more by doing anything. The pick is Adams via second-round stoppage.
