Preview: UFC Fight Night 182 Main Card

Alhassan vs. Williams

Welterweights

Abdul Razak Alhassan (10-2) vs. Kalinn Williams (10-1)

ODDS: Alhassan (-230), Williams (+190)

Alhassan became someone to watch immediately upon his UFC debut in 2016. As the type of fighter who throws bombs and asks questions later, he brought his approach into the Octagon by absolutely blasting Charlie Ward. A subsequent loss to Omari Akhmedov showed that Alhassan quickly fades beyond his opening salvos, but free from the shackles of being any sort of prospect, he went about his business as an elite action fighter. The fact that he went punch for punch with Niko Price in 2018 and came out the clear victor is legitimately impressive. However, it has been all downhill for Alhassan since he defeated Price, both inside and outside the cage. Alhassan spent the next two years fighting rape charges before being acquitted, then once again gassed himself out in an unimpressive loss to Mounir Lazzez upon his return. Alhassan looks to rebound against Williams, who is looking to build on a surprisingly successful UFC debut in February. Heading into that fight, Williams looked like a promising but raw prospect who started his fights with some poise but could quickly be lured into a brawl. That is exactly what happened against Alex Morono. After Morono, sparked a brawl, Williams returned fire until he scored the quick knockout. That is what figures to happen here, though it will likely go much worse for Williams this time around. The pick is Alhassan via first-round knockout.
