RFA 38 Weigh-in Results: Moises, Emmers Cleared to Brawl for Title

Las Vegas-based MMA promotion Resurrection Fighting Alliance will invade the Hangar in Costa Mesa, California, Friday night and it promises to be another event loaded with all sorts of caged mayhem.

The main event of RFA 38 will be the lightweight championship showdown between titlist Thiago Moises and Jamall Emmers. Moises was slated to defend his crown against Ernest Chavez, but when “E.J.” pulled out due to an injury in training, Emmers stepped in.

At Thursday’s weigh-ins, most of the main card combatants made weight. Both men in the main event were on point, though, clearing the way to their title tilt. Emmers was the first to the scale and he officially weighed in at 154.8 pounds. The Brazilian was next and came in right on the money at 155 pounds.

The bantamweight co-feature weigh-ins weren’t without some controversy, though. While Vinicius Zani checked in at 135.4 pounds, his opponent, Joe Murphy, tipped the scale at a bloated 137.2 pounds. As of press time, there was no official word on whether Murphy will be penalized a portion of his purse, but he was seen chugging fluids right after he got off the scale, eliminating any suggestion that he’ll try and trim the extra baggage.

RFA 38 will be televised live on AXS TV beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
