Glory 38 Weigh-in Results: Vakhitov, Cavalari Cleared for Title Clash

Glory, the world’s leading kickboxing promotion, returns to the Windy City Friday night with another solid night of action. Headlining the Glory 38 main card is the light heavyweight championship as Artem Vakhitov (17-5, 7 KOs) will defend his crown against Saulo Cavalari (60-4, 49 KOs).

Zinedine Hameur-Lain (56-14, 35 KOs), a former Glory tournament winner, will face Zack Mwekassa (15-4, 13 KOs) in the first half of the one-night four-man light heavyweight contender tournament. Rounding out the other half of the bracket will be Danyo Illunga (57-10, 44 KOs) locking horns with Ariel Machado (43-8, 33 KOs).

At Thursday’s weigh-ins, all of the combatants made weight, giving the event the expected green light. Cavalari was the first of the featured fighters to step to the scale and he came in at 209 pounds. Vakhitov looked equally sculpted, though he was a shade lighter; the champ weighed in at 207 pounds.

The event takes place at Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, just outside Chicago, and will air live on ESPN3 beginning at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT. The Glory 38 SuperFight Series undercard will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
