Former UFC Fighter Tim Credeur Surrenders in Louisiana on Drug, Gun Charges

Former UFC middleweight Tim Credeur was arrested Monday on drug and firearm charges after turning himself in to authorities.

The Lafayette, La.-based Daily Advertiser reported Tuesday that the mixed martial artist and Gladiators Academy owner was charged with possession of marijuana and the illegal carrying of a firearm in the presence of a controlled substance. According to the report, police found marijuana and a gun inside Credeur’s vehicle after the 35-year-old was pulled over for a seat belt violation on April 15.

Sherdog.com confirmed Tuesday with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office that a warrant for Credeur’s arrest was issued on May 29. Credeur turned himself in yesterday at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and was later released after posting two bonds totaling $5,500.

Credeur introduced himself to UFC fans as a cast member on “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 7, advancing to the show’s semifinals before falling to Jesse Taylor. “Crazy” made his official UFC debut in 2008, rattling off stoppage wins over Cale Yarbrough, Nate Loughran and Nick Catone before dropping a unanimous decision to former title contender Nate Quarry at Fight Night 19. Credeur last competed in June 2011, when he returned from nearly two years on the shelf to face Ed Herman at the “TUF 13” finale, falling via technical knockout in just 48 seconds.
