TUF 8 Sherblog: The Black Belt

We were two and a half weeks into our stay at the TUF resort and slowly but surely being around the same people and doing the same things were getting to me. I am pretty sure it all had to do with my injury. I was not training the way I normally would, which really sucked. All I could do was kick pads with Ken and do conditioning drills. I couldn’t grapple, spar or do pads just yet. Frank ended up bringing in a very good doctor that we hoped would help out with the injured hand.

Once again Junie was being Junie, calling out any fighter and this time is was Delgado. I knew he would throw the belt at Delgado, but I did not know he would spit on it. I thought that it was disrespectful and uncalled for. Mir, Nog and Silva were clearly upset and I am sure that Vinny and Eliot did not appreciate the gesture either.

I didn’t care about where or who Delgado received his black belt from. Black, brown, purple, blue or white, it does not matter what level you are at when there are punches and kicks involved. A black belt can quickly turn to white belt while being punched in the face.

Stankie was awesome. Before every training session we would gather around him and listen to his wild stories. The 205ers from Nog’s team would tell me how crazy Stankie is, but how hard he made them all train. I would have loved to work with Stankie. It was great to have a fellow Polak on the show.

I was not surprised when Junie did not make weight. This kid does not know how to cut weight and eat properly. (It could have been part of his act). He asked for my help with his meals, but did not follow anything I suggested. It should have been an easy cut, as he had only seven pounds to go the night before weigh-ins.

Props to Dave for being there by his side and pushing Junie to get the two pounds off when Junie was really struggling. Tom and I helped out a bit as well. We needed this win and control of the matchups. Personally, I was not ready to fight next and I don’t think the doctors would have allowed me to anyway. I was sure Nog would pick me to fight next if he had control.

Junie should have destroyed Delgado; this should have been a quick and easy win for Team Mir. Delgado was scared shitless before the fight; we all saw it. I was more disappointed in Junie’s performance than impressed with Delgado’s. All that big talk from Junie on his pedestal -- what a joke, it’s all for show.

Behind the scenes we found out Team Nog’s weak link at 205. Most of Team Nog was telling me not to fight Jules, as it would be a massacre and that they wanted me to fight Kyle. I had no problem with that at all; Kyle and I didn’t get along well. We would have to see what Frank thought of this.

On another note, there were a lot of pigs in the house who didn’t clean up after themselves and needed to be taught a lesson soon. A lot of us were sick and tired of eating meals in a very dirty kitchen. More pranks and mayhem were on the way.
