Donald Cerrone: By The Numbers

Donald Cerrone has earned almost universal adoration from the buying public through an unwavering commitment to his craft and a warrior spirit that has made him one of the most prolific competitors in Ultimate Fighting Championship history.

Cerrone will once again be the center of attention when he takes on the unbeaten Darren Till in the UFC Fight Night 118 main event on Oct. 21 at Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland. The five-round battle should shed some light on where the high-mileage “Cowboy” stands in the 170-pound weight class, a division in which the former lightweight has gone 4-2 across six appearances. Cerrone will enter the cage on the heels of back-to-back losses to Robbie Lawler and Jorge Masvidal, marking the first two-fight losing streak of his career. The longtime Jackson-Wink MMA standout has secured 24 of his 32 professional victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.

Ahead of his crossroads clash with Till, here are some of the numbers that have come to define Cerrone:

3: Ultimate Fighting Championship main events in which he has appeared. Cerrone owns a 2-1 record in those fights, his wins over Alex Oliveira and Jim Miller sandwiched around a loss to Rafael dos Anjos.

13: First-round finishes on his resume. His list of victims includes Alex Oliveira, Edson Barboza, Adriano Martins, Melvin Guillard and James Krause.

14: Knockdowns landed in UFC competition, per FightMetric. Only Anderson Silva (18) and Jeremy Stephens (16) have recorded more in Ultimate Fighting Championship history.

16: Wins by submission. Cerrone has recorded eight victories by triangle choke, five by rear-naked choke and three by armbar.

18: Post-fight bonuses awarded during his career in the UFC and World Extreme Cagefighting. His total haul: $815,000.

19: UFC wins. That number ties him with Georges St. Pierre and Demian Maia for second on the all-time list. They trail only reigning middleweight champion Michael Bisping (20).

34: Years of age. Cerrone will turn 35 on March 29.

88.7: Percent of takedowns defended inside the Octagon. That ranks ninth among active UFC fighters, with Tyron Woodley (97.6), Renan Barao (97.1), Jon Jones (95.0), Eddie Wineland (92.9), Gleison Tibau (92.1), Jose Aldo (90.6), Ian McCall (90.0) and Rashid Magomedov (89.3) positioned in front of him.

171: Cumulative victories between the seven men -- Lawler, Masvidal, dos Anjos, Anthony Pettis, Nate Diaz, Benson Henderson and Jamie Varner -- who have defeated Cerrone. Dos Anjos and Henderson remain the only fighters who have beaten him twice.

1,121: Significant strikes landed in the UFC. That number ranks seventh on the promotion’s all-time list behind Bisping (1,533), Frankie Edgar (1,378), St. Pierre (1,254), Nate Diaz (1,210), Evan Dunham (1,196) and Max Holloway (1,163).
