Clopton trains with Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez in California. The unbeaten 29-year-old has not fought since November 2009, when he took a split decision from Mike Baskis at Supreme Warrior Championship 9 “Redemption” and captured promotional gold in a five-round duel. An April 2009 draw with Randy Steinke remains the only blemish on Clopton’s resume.
