(PRESS RELEASE) -- As the weather heats up, so does the action
inside the GLORY ring. The world's premier stand-up combat league
today announced Summer of GLORY 2018, a seasonal campaign featuring
can't-miss events in New York, Denver, Shenzhen (China), Chicago
and Amsterdam.
Summer of GLORY 2018 is expected to sizzle, including world title tilts and superfight scraps featuring the promotion's top stars.
The five-city campaign begins with a championship doubleheader from
The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City on
Friday, July 20.
In the first of two thrilling championship bouts announced for GLORY 55 New York, undisputed featherweight king Robin "Poker Face" van Roosmalen (40-7, 21 KO, fighting out of the Netherlands) takes on 22-year-old challenger "The Professor" Petchpanomrung Kiatmookao (159-36-2, 27 KO, fighting out of Thailand).
After taking a bite of the Big Apple, GLORY travels to the Mile High City for the return of light heavyweight champion Artem Vakhitov (19-5, 8 KO, fighting out of Russia), who defends his title at GLORY 56 Denver from 1STBANK Center on Friday, Aug. 10.
"Killer Kid" Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong (120-30-5, 32 KO, fighting out of Thailand) looks to extend his lightweight title reign when GLORY touches down for the first time in Shenzhen, China on Saturday, Aug. 25.
Fans inside Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, site of GLORY 57 Shenzhen, will also witness a one-night qualification tournament, featuring eight of China's top lightweights all competing for a spot in the GLORY rankings.
Then, GLORY breezes into the Windy City on Saturday, Sept. 15 with heavyweight action, as Benjamin "Mister Gentleman" Adegbuyi (30-5, 18 KO, fighting out of Romania) puts his No. 1 ranking on the line against former title challenger Jamal “The Goliath” Ben Saddik (31-7, 25 KO, fighting out of the Netherlands).
GLORY 58 Chicago will also feature Illinois-product and local favorite Richard "Maximus" Abraham (13-5, 4 KO, fighting out of the United States), who fights at the familiar Sears Centre Arena for a fourth time under the GLORY banner.
Summer of GLORY 2018 culminates with a trip to Johan Cruijff ArenA – the Netherlands' largest stadium – on Saturday, Sept. 29.
GLORY 59 Amsterdam, expected to be a stacked fight card, will feature bouts including heavyweight world champion and pound-for-pound great Rico "The King of Kickboxing" Verhoeven (53-10, 16 KO, fighting out of the Netherlands), former welterweight champion and perennial contender Murthel "The Predator" Groenhart (67-23-3, 38 KO, fighting out of the Netherlands), and 21-year-old phenom Mohammed "The Destroyer" Jaraya (70-6, 36 KO, fighting out of the Netherlands).
