Report: Scanlon Injured, Withdraws from UFC Live 3

Mark Scanlon has reportedly suffered an injury and withdrawn from his scheduled bout against Matt Brown at UFC Live 3 on March 3.

The bout, which had not yet been made official by the promotion, now sits in limbo as the UFC searches for a new opponent for Brown. MMAJunkie.com first reported Scanlon’s injury on Friday. The event will go down at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky., and will air live on the Versus network.

After winning four of his first five bouts in the UFC, Brown has fallen on hard times of late. “The Immortal” has dropped three straight contests in the Octagon, submitting to Ricardo Almeida, Chris Lytle and Brian Foster, respectively. Brown holds all 11 of his career victories by either knockout or submission and has never been KO’d. A brown belt in judo, the AMC Pankration product was a competitor on “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 7, losing in the quarter-finals to eventual winner Amir Sadollah.

The event will be headlined by a welterweight scrap between Danish striker Martin Kampmann and “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 1 winner Diego Sanchez. Also scheduled is a pair of middleweight bouts pitting C.B. Dollaway against fellow wrestler Mark Munoz and Alessio Sakara against Chute Boxe product Maiquel Jose Falcao Goncalves.
