Baranchyk-Ramos Anchors ShoBox Quadrupleheader Feb. 10

Showtime’s long-running boxing series ShoBox: The New Generation returns on Feb. 10 with another solid quadrupleheader. The event will take place at Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Okla., and is set to be anchored by a super lightweight encounter between Ivan Baranchyk and Abel Ramos.

The action will be televised live on Showtime beginning at 10:05 p.m. ET/7:05 p.m. PT.

Baranchyk (13-0, 10 KOs) opened his pro career with 10 knockouts in his first 11 bouts and while the Minsk native has gone the distance in his last two outings, the former amateur standout is excited about the progress he’s made thus far. He captured a regional title last September by outpointing then-unbeaten Zhimin Wang and is set for the first defense of that belt against Ramos.

“I am looking forward to continuing my pursuit of a world title,” said Baranchyk. “Ramos is a very tough fighter and a ShoBox alum himself, so I will enjoy knocking him out. I think I’ve proved my durability by going 10 rounds in my last two fights.  My team wants me to box more and let the knockouts come, so that is something we work on all the time.”

Ramos (17-1-2, 12 KOs) has rebounded nicely since losing to highly-touted prospect Regis Prograis in ’15. The Pennsylvanian has scored three straight knockouts and is eager to prove his worth against Baranchyk next month.

“I’m very excited for this fight and I am preparing for a war,” said Ramos. “Baranchyk likes to fight moving forward as do I, so it is going to be an action-packed main event at Buffalo Run.”

The co-feature will see Trey Lippe Morrison (13-0, 13 KOs), the son of former heavyweight champ Tommy “The Duke” Morrison, collide with Daniel Martz (15-4-1, 12 KOs) in an eight-round heavyweight affair. Light heavyweights Lenin Castillo (15-0-1, 10 KOs) and Joe Williams (10-0, 7 KOs) will tango over eight rounds and an eight-round super featherweight tussle between Jon Fernandez (10-0, 8 KOs) and Ernesto Garza (7-1, 4 KOs) will open the telecast.
